Since arriving in Hong Kong in 2012, Upekha has become extremely adept at treating the most common complaints of the Hong Kong general public: back, neck, knee and shoulder pain. She treats her patients and helps them achieve their goals through a combination of manual therapy techniques including myofascial release, dry needling, and active rehabilitation techniques.
Having been a professional ballroom dancer, Upekha understands the demands of high-performance athletes and is highly experienced in treating dance-related injuries. Upekha is a firm believer in training movement mechanics using a combination of Clinical Pilates and strength and conditioning to return to performance. She is now the go-to physiotherapist for many professional ballroom dancers from around the world that comes to Hong Kong. Upekha is also the consulting physiotherapist for the Hong Kong Ballet.
Upekha believes moving with correct alignment is vital and that it is the role of physiotherapists to facilitate the innate resilience in our bodies.
